Exploring role of moral disengagement and counterproductive work behaviours in information security awareness.

Abstract As security breaches in organisations are on the rise, developing an understanding of factors enabling and preventing such is crucial. Even though previous studies have examined organisational aspects information security, not much focus has been placed human factors. In present work we tendency to morally disengage (MD), awareness (ISA), counterproductive behaviours (CWB), a sample 718 employees who used computers daily basis, order establish predictors CWB behavioural outcomes ISA. The results showed that propensity plays important role ISA, particularly aspect diffusion responsibility. Secondly, ISA knowledge attitude, as expected, were part mediating mechanism underlying relationship between MD behaviours, well CWB. This demonstrates constructs overlap certain degree, thus affecting one, should effects also other. Targeted interventions need consider ways improving attitudes, employees’ sense responsibility for they with.
